Overall, the mechanism involves three major components, namely, solar panel photo-voltaic cells, underground bore or well and a water tank. The solar energy is captured by the panel and transformed into dc electricity, which is then sent to the underground bore to be utilized to pump water for the village.
The process begins with the enormous heat energy from the sun, which is stored in the photovoltaic cells of the solar panel and used to produce direct current. The panel that faces the sun is mounted on a pole that is fixed above the ground. The dc power generated from the panel is channelled to the bore pump which is placed below the water level inside the well. Thereafter, using a pipe connecting the well with the tank, the bore pump pumps water to the water tank located on the ground surface. The water remains there until it is distributed to the village.
