The diagram provide information how electricity is generated from geothermal energy.
Overall, there are five main steps to the process, from pumping cold water down into the geothermal zone, to producing electricity that is then sent into the electric grid.
Firstly, cold water is pumped down through an injection 4.5km underground to the geothermal zone, consisting of hot rocks. The cold water is then heated up by these rocks while flowing through to the opposite end. The heated water is then pumped up via the production well into the condenser.
In the condenser, the hot water is condensed into steam. The steam is then transported to the turbine. As the steam moves through the turbine, it creates a spinning effect that powers the generator, thus producing electricity. The electricity generated is then transferred into the grid via power lines.
