The process illustrates the way in which electricity is created by a system called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). Overall, there are 7 steps in the process beginning with the converting into water vapour of warm seawater and culminating in the production of electricity and pure water.
To begin with, the warm seawater which is around 29 Celsius degrees in the surface is gathered and converted into water vapour by solar energy. After that, this seawater vapour is moved into an Evacuated evaporation chamber where salt are removed from it. In the next step, the saltless water vapour are used to turn turbine generating electricity.
After creating electricity, water vapour is transferred into the Condensing chamber, where it is condensed into pure water that can be used for drinking or cooking purposes. At the same time the removed salt is mixed with cold sea water which can be found 1000m below the sea’s surface. The mixed waste sate water is released back to the sea.
