The map illustrates how West Park Secondary School has changed over a period of 60 years since being constructed in 1950.
Overall, it can be seen that the school has transformed significantly throughout the period with the expansion of the school building, as well as the addition of a car park and sports field.
In 1950, the school had one building situated right next to several houses. There was also a playground behind the school and farmland in the southwest of the school building. 30 years later, the houses were demolished to make way for a car park. At the same time, the school building was expanded into two parts, the old building was then used as the main building and a science block was added. Another noticeable change was that the farmland had been converted to a sports field.
In 2010, the area of the sports field and the playground had to be narrowed due to the extension of the car park, which occupied almost half of the total area of West Park Secondary School.
