The map illustrates the developments that Queen Mary Hospital had gone through in a period of forty years.
Overall, Queen Mary Hospital has a lot of growth since it started. In 1960, it did not have a lot of facilities and it was surrounded by Farmland and shopping centre. After few years the Farmland and shopping centre was vanished, but new features were introduced in that hospital. The things that were considered to be most essential were started to grow.
In 1960, the hospital had an equal infrastructure for shopping centre, hospital, farmland and car park. While days passed, there were no symptoms for the existence of both farmland and shopping centre. In 1980, shopping centre’s area was occupied by cancer centre and pharmacy. Car park was not disturbed for modification until 1980. In the same year, Farmland was replaced by Nursing school. This had a similar construction in contrast to the previous building.
In 2000, the size of the Nursing school and car park was reduced to half which was occupied by the Cancer centre. The building area of the cancer centre grew three times more when compared to its initial stages. The other features remained to be untouched.
