The diagrams below show the development of the horse over a period of 40 million years.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant

The provided illustration shows the evolution of the horse started 40 million years ago with specifically changes in form of foot structure. Overall ,it is clear from diagram that horse has changed significantly in size of body.
Initially, the evolution started from Eohippus ,which had a small body and a snout. Its foot had tiny toes separated from each other. Eventually , after 10 million years this type of horse evolved into Mesohippus type. In which main changes observed in larger tail and longer snout. In addition, this species had foot structure changed from many toes to the three main parts of it.
Further an ancestor of modern horse called Merychippus substituted the last type in the third stage of the evolution respectively 15 million years ago .Consequently, transformation during this period is seen from the muzzle similarly to modern horse. At the same time ,the middle toe became dominant ,resembling a hoof. Over time, Merychippus evolved into well-known modern horse with developed elbow , ankle, long tail and crest. At this stage the structure of foot finally changed into fetlock and a present hoof emerged.
As a result, a horse went through four major evolutional steps before transforming into contemporary type.
