The two diagrams display how a small fishing village turned into a modern resort from 1975 to 2004.
A notable change was that the population of the area increased dramatically from 12.000 to 80.00 and even 130.000 in tourist season.
It is clear that the whole village experienced a significant modernization in the period of 30 years. In 1974, there was not any way for people to access the village, but in 2004, there was a construction of a road from the mountain to the area and the small villages on the slopes of the mountains was extended with the building of several tourist shops.
Another striking development was that the olives garden was replaced by a farmland which provided food and vegetable for the hotels, and the woodland near by turned into a golf course. The original village was still in the middle of the area, but it was enlarged with more homes of locals. The habour was knocked down for the introduction of a beach in 2004, and along the coast, numerous hotels sprang up, making the original village become a modern resort.

The two maps compare and
The two maps compare and contrast the changes of a small coastal village to a large tourist attraction in Europe from 1974 to 2004.
As is highlighted shown in the maps, the local population witnessed an enormous increase over the 31 years from only 12,000 to 80,000 and the village also had the possibility to serve accommodations for 50,000 tourists.
In the year 2004, in the East and the West of the original village, a huge number of hotels were built along the coastline, while where the harbour stood, there used to be the sandy beach for tourist activities.
Moreover, the woodland and the olives in the West of the area were destroyed to make way for the golf and the farms growing fruits and vegetables for hotels. The given period also experienced the enlargement of two villages in the North-West and the North-East of this area and the appearance of new shops and the main road as well.
On this basis, it may be concluded that there are plenty of differences between the two maps in every location.
