The diagrams below show the life cycle of the silkworm and the stages in the production of silk cloth
The two adequately illustrated diagram indicates the biological rhythm of silkworm along with the complete phase that goes through the procedure of fabricating silk cloth.
Overall, the complete transformation of a newly hatched egg to an adult moth in major four stages is demonstrated in the first figure, while the second one portrays effective method comprising six steps in the production of properly refined silk cloth.
Primarily, in the surface of mulberry leaf moth lays a couple of hundred eggs which after ten days of interval transforms to silkworm larva. Fortunately, the leaf acts as the only food source that is consumed by the larva. Approximately during the period from one month to forty-two days larva forms silk thread all around its surface reaching several inches thick in diameter and up to two times longer in its length. However, within eight days silk thread fully takes place of the cocoon and the larva inside will fully mature into a moth after a fortnight. With this, the lifecycle repeats itself for eternity.
As a second part, the formed cocoon is collectively taken and kept in a vessel half-filled with water which then is boiled until the thread is ready to unwind till it reaches 300 to 900 meters in length. Further, the thread is twisted to form a strong thread of better quality which subsequently is taken to the vessel containing dye. Eventually, to provide proper shape and colouring, a thread is intertwined in a circular frame which is passed through the dye.
