The diagrams below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given illustrations present various stages in the life of a big fish named salmon.

Overall, it can be observed that there are three stages in the life cycle of a salmon fish from a baby fish to a matured one. These stages are characterized by their sizes and the places they reach in the process of development.

The cycle begins in the upper river where the slow currant allows deposition of salmon eggs below the aquatic vegetation called reeds, usually under small pebbles. Here, they will spend first five to six months until they are ready to hatch into baby salmons known as 'fry' which are about 3 to 8 cm in length. After that, they travel to the fast flowing area of the lower river where they will stay for the next four years. Once they become 12-15 cm in size, they enter the next phase of the development. In this phase, the are called smolt. During this stage they will migrate to the open sea and for the next five years they will gradually make transition into the next stage of the maturation to become adult salmon . A fully matured salmon can grow as much as 70-76 cm. Subsequently, the fully grown salmon return to it's place of birth, i.e upper river where it will once again lay it's eggs to start a new cycle.
