The diagrams below show the problem of flooding in a UK town and two possible solutions.
The illustrations represent the issue with flooding in a certain town in UK and the two possible remedy for the said problem.
In general, there are two possible solutions to alleviate the concern when it comes to flooding in that town. However, these remedies may have disadvantage in the environment and the expenditures.
To start with, the main concern are the buildings and park around the two rivers, namely "A" and "B". When it rains, the water rises and the river overflow which cause flooding in this area. The first proposed solution is for these establishments and household area to be moved further away from the river. Relocating them will not harm the environment. however, the money that will be spent on the renovation and shifting cost a fortune.
Turning to another solution, they thought of building two dams, one dam will be built on the north of river "A" and another one on the west side of the river "B". The process would be for them to put a reservoir on each dam that will hold the water when it rains, therefore, it will not cause the water from the river to rise thus there will no need to change the location of park, houses and building that surrounds the area. This remedy will not cost that much but the downside is it is not environment-friendly and will affect the land.
