The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. the second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.

The pie charts provide information about the percentages of consumed energy in a household in Australia on average with released CO2 from those usages such as heating, water heating, cooling, lighting, refrigerator and other appliances. It is also worth noting that while Australian people are inclined to prefer using power for heating, water heating tends to emit a considerable amount of greenhouse gas into the air.
To specify, the largest proportion of energy is used for heating with over 40%, followed by water heating and other appliances at 30% and 15% respectively. In contrast, Australian families spend the smallest percentage of energy on cooling with 2%. With regard to the greenhouse gas emissions, water heating constitutes 32% of that emissions and becomes the highest. Surprisingly, whereas the greatest proportion of power is consumed for heating, that usage just occupies 15% in total CO2 emissions of Australian household, taking the third place.
