Looking from all perspectives, it is readily apparent that the number of people traveling abroad has increased significantly during the survey years as well as the figures to the destinations witness a gradual increase. It is observed that most people went to foreign countries as a holiday destination since it has got the highest figures in the all-time period, ranging from 15,000 people to 20,000 people. Business trips followed as the second although its figures were very much smaller than the first, having around 3,000 to nearly 4,000 people. The other categories such as paying a visit to relatives encountered as a steady increase, up to 3,181 people in 1998, from 2,689 people in 1994.
In terms of destinations, Western European countries seemed to be the all-time favorite travel vocations for UK tourists, with nearly 20,000 travelers in 1994 to almost 25,000 in 1998. Other areas which might be Asian countries are observed to be the second most appealing foreign destination with its figures slightly increasing til the end of 1998, and it is followed by North America as the third choice.
To sum up, the UK citizens tend to go traveling to foreign places more in 1998, compared to their counterparts in 1994 while their choice of destination seemed unchanged with Western Europe as the first choice.
