The first chart below shows the results of a survey which sampled a cross-section of 100,000 people asking if they traveled abroad and why they traveled for the period 1994-98.

The change in UK residents travelling overseas by various purposes and the regions they visit from 1994 to 1998 is displayed in table and bar chart, shown in numbers.
Overall, the total of British visited abroad inclined, especially for Holiday. Furthermore, the vast majority those went to Western Europe.
Initially, there were very large number of UK population taking vacation, followed by business and relationship aims at around 3,000 and 2,500, respectively. When it came to other reasons, the people accounted for below a thousand. Eventually , three aforementioned purposes showed an significant increase, but those choosing holiday was the highest at approximately 20,000, and business and visiting friends and family with virtually 4,000 and 3,000 people, while the rest aim was as same as the initial year.
As per data, Western Europe was the most favorite region visited by Britain population, increasing from below 20,000 in 1994 to almost 25,000 in 1998. Although the level of people coming to North America and other areas was observed to incline until the last period, the growth was steadily, being below 5000 persons.
