The following graph shows the production of electricity according to source in France between 1985 and 2000.
The line graph given compares four main types of electricity production in France over a fifteen-year period, starting in 1985 and ending in 2000.
In 1985, the data shows that although thermal and hydroelectric were the popular sources of electricity production with 10 TWh and 80 TWh, respectively, from then on, they were on the decline. For thermal, it dropped sharply to 60 TWh in 1990 and remained unchanged until the end of the period. Similarly, hydroelectric decreased gradually throughout the period to a low of 50 TWh in 2000.
On the other hand, despite starting at 60 TWh in 1985, nuclear sources increase dramatically to 150 TWh in 1990, and from that point, there was a skyrocketing to the highest at 400 TWh. Although renewable sources of energy were barely registered for the first half of the period, then it rose gradually to 10TWh in 2000.
In general, it is clear in the graph that nuclear was the most popular source of electricity in France, while renewables did show signs of initial growth. Meanwhile, there was a slight decrease in thermal and hydroelectricity electricity production.
