The graph illustrates the proportion of five employment types in the United States from 1930 to 2010. It is clear that in the beginning, the highest percentage of employment kind was farming, fishing and foresting. However, this became the lowest proportion at the end of the period.

In 1930, the number of agricultural employment was much greater than any other kind of job with approximately 75%. At that time, technical and industrial employees are extremely rare, just over 0%. Meanwhile, the figure of sales and office, and other services are slightly bigger with about 10%.

In 1990, with a remarkable decrease in the number of agricultural employment and significant growth in the proportion of industrial employment, they reached the same amount which is about 30%. From 1930 to 1990, there were fluctuations in the percentage of technical, sales, office, and other services. Although the number of agricultural employment reached a peak in 1930, this amount dramatically dropped out at the end of the period at just over 2.5%. Over the period, the proportion of industrial employment experienced a considerable increase to approximately 38%, whereas technical, sales and office one also climb up to 30% and 20% respectively. However, the number of other services slightly reduced by 3%.
