The represented line graph illustrates information about how the expenses of food and oil altered from 2000 to 2011.
Overall, it is clear that both figures showed great growth and the food price index surpassed the total oil cost at the end of the year.
In 2000, the price of oil was around 90 per barrel, placed higher than that of the food, which was just under 90 points. In the next seven years, a gradual increase with some little fluctuations was witnessed in both oil and food expenses, more in oil price in 2006 and 2007, and reached around 139 per barrel and 138 points respectively.
Significant changes were experienced in both after the year 2007. Between 2008 and 2009, they hit the highest prices for the first time, at 230 per barrel in oil and just over 220 points in the food. However, they showed a sharp downward trend, declined to around 118 per barrel in the oil price and almost 140 points in the food costs. After two years, they increased dramatically and climbed to approximately 240 in the food, which was the highest points, and to over the 180 per barrel in oil.
