The line graph illustrates the rate of adolescence joblessness in England over 18-year period.
As can be seen from the graph that the unemployment rate of the aged 16-24 in London and the rest of England at that time between 1993 and 2012 was significantly higher than that of overall in both groups. The proportion of the young who are without work in London was consistently higher than that of the rest of England.
In 1993, the amount of joblessness rate of the young in London stood at about 22%, while the figure for that of overall London was nearly 15%. Standing at 10%, the unemployment rate in the young living outside the capital was lower than that of 16 to 24 year olds. It can be concluded that, the year between 1993 and 2000 witnessed a downward trend in all groups.
There was a noticeable increase in the joblessness rate in the young of capital between the year 2005 and 2006, and then the trend continued to go up at the peak of 25% in 2012. By contrast, the young between 16 and 24 year olds living outside the capital fluctuated and peaked at around 19% in 2009. Generally, there was a moderate stability in the number of people in both overall groups.
