The figure elucidates three sort of spreads’ consumption from 1981, which were margarine and butter, and from 1996, which was low fat and reduced spreads, to 2007. At first glance, it is evident that the most noticeable alterations occurred for the consumption of butter.
To begin with, there was a significant upsurge for butter’s consumption in the first 5 years in which it, initially, stood at just above 140 and peaked to just below 160 in 1986. Unfortunately, it plunged tremendously, plummeting to well across 40 by the end of the period show. Following the same pattern as butter, the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads experienced a dramatic palpitation between 1996, which made up at well under 20, and 2007, which constituted at well over 60.
In contrast, 1981 to 1991 witnessed a gradual oscillation for margarine’s consumption where it, firstly, upright positioned at well beneath 100 and achieved to 100 in the following 10 years. It, over the next 5 years, remained stable. However, it, unexpectedly, dropped tremendously approximately to 40 in 2007.
