The graph illustrates the consumption of fish and three kinds of meat in Europe from 1979 to 2004. Units are measured in grams.
In general, the consumption of beef and lamb decreased over the period while that of chicken increased. It is also worth noting that the expenditure of chicken was the highest and the lowest was fish.
To start with, there was fluctuation in chicken consumed over the whole period. The amount of chicken began at around 150 in 1979. In the case of beef consumed dropped to nearly 180 in 1979 but it recovered strongly by 60. And then, it went down moderately to above 100 until 2003 and there was a slight improvement at the end of the year. Turning to the used of lamb in 1979 had the highest point which was 150 then it fell to just over 50.
Meanwhile, the consumption of fish declined to just under 50 between 1979 and 1981. There was a small change before it decreased to about 40 in 1999. It remained constant in 2004.
