Overall, it is clear to see that the consumption of electricity in winter is significantly higher than in summer. Furthermore, heating rooms and water accounts for the majority of the use of electricity.
Regarding the demand for electricity, people in England usually use the least electricity between 6 am and 9 am, with around 30000 units in winter and around half of that in summer. The consumption of electricity in winter keeps rising during the day and it reaches a peak at nearly 50000 units between 9 pm and 10 pm. In summer, the peak of the use of electricity is recorded at around 20000 units between 1 pm and 2 pm.
As for what the electricity is used for, 52.5% is used for heating homes and water. The rest of electricity use is distributed to three categories, which the first is ovens, kettles and washing machines(17.5%) and the second is lighting, TV and radio(15%) and the last is vaccum cleaners, food mixers and electric tools.
