The number of books read by men increased slightly between 2011 and 2012, from about 3000 to 4000. After that, this was followed by a period exponential growth, with the quantity of books from about 4000 to 14000 between 2012 and 2014.
Meanwhile, women started reading books more than men with approximately 5000 in 2011. After rising slightly from 8000 to 10000 from 2012 to 2013, the numbers of books fell back again 8000 in 2014.
Overall, there was a strong upward trend in the quantity of books read by men. Although women read more books than men in 2011, their reading fell to below the level of men in 2014.
