The line graph depicts data about how many stores closed and how many new stores opened across a typical nation over a period of seven years, starting in 2011.
In general, the common trend in this graph was downward. In addition, except for the first half of 2011 and a period of two years from 2014 to 2016, the number of shops closed outnumbered the number of new shops opened.
Looking at the graph, we can see that from 2011 to 2014, the number of stores closed fluctuated between 6000 and 7000. After that, this figure plunged to 500 in 2015 before surging to 5200 in the following year. For the remaining time, this figure had a slight fluctuation between 5000 and 5200.
In terms of the number of new stores opened, it peaked at 8,500 in the first year of the period. And then this declined sharply to 4000. From 2012 to 2014, this figure climbed significantly to 6000 in 2014 before decreasing dramatically to 2012’s figure in 2015. This figure remained stable until 2017 before dropping again to 3000.
