The line graph compares the number of shops that closed and opened in a certain country between the years 2011 and 2018.
It is clear that there were significant changes in the number of shop closures and openings throughout the period shown. While a dramatic decrease can be seen in the shops that closed, the figure for openings remained relatively stable.
In 2011, the number of shop closures was around 6500, this figure fluctuated slightly over the following three years, before falling considerably in 2015 to about 800 shops. However, the figure continued to increase in 2016 at 5000 shops and remained until the end of the period.
For the number of shop openings, we can see that they tend to decrease gradually over the period of seven years. In 2011, this figure stood at 8500 shops then decreased to 4000 in the next year. After increasing to nearly 6000 shops in 2014, the number of shops that opened returned to 4000 and reduced to only 3000 in 2015.
