The supplied line graph compares the degree of sulphur dioxide and smoke pollution in London from 1600 to 2000.

Overall, although both types of pollution displayed almost the same figures at the beginning and the end of the period, sulphur dioxide contaminated considerably more than smoke.

Looking at the details, at the start of the span, smoke pollution made up no more than about 100 micrograms per cubic meter and was steady rising till the middle after the year 1700 with close to 250 micrograms. After that, the line experienced a moderate fall and started to grow again to the peak with approximately 400 micrograms per cubic meter after the year 1850. From that moment, the smoke pollution began to decrease with many fluctuations to almost no micrograms by 2000.

Looking further, sulphur dioxide had the similar year pattern but with the greater amount. Micrograms were growing significantly from around 50 of them to just over 750 by the middle after 1700 and had a rebound. Then, sulphur dioxide contamination hit a peak of nearly 900 micrograms and fell to almost 0 micrograms by 2000.
