Essay topics:

The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the percentage of people who are 65 and over in three nations during the 100-year from 1940 to 2040.

In general, the proportion of elderly has tended to increase through the years in all three countries and the older inhabitants of Japan are predicted to make up the highest percentage with over 25% of the total.

Particularly, in 1940, the number of American 65 aged or over was higher than in Sweden and Japanese old people accounted for the lowest figure. But 100 years later, Japan will become the nation that has the highest percentage of the old population and the opposite will true with the USA which the number of elderly will lowest compare to 2 others countries.

It is clear to see from the chart that the amount of old Japanese increased slowly before the year 2020 but from 2020 to 2040, this data will soak significantly and in 2040, it will be higher over 5 times than this in 1940. Through this period, this figure of Sweden and Japan has increased stability and nearly the same.
