The line graph compares the percentages of elderly citizens aged 65 and more over a century in Japan, Sweden and USA from 1940 and give projection to 2040.
It is clear that the figures of people aged 65 and over was progressively increasing over the period shown and it is predicated that more than 25% of population in 2040 were above 65 years .
In 1940, American had the highest percentage of senior population (about 10%) , in contrast to Swedan and Japanese whose percentage were 7% and 5% respectively.
The American figure was increasing and it is expected to reach the peak in 2040,about 23%.
Similarly, the Sweden's percentages were increasing progressively to overtook the American in 2000 and it is predicted to reach 25% in 2040.
Only less than 5% of Japanese were above than 65 years and the figure was almost static till 2010 when it started to rise and it is expected to overtook both USA and Sweden figures in 2030 and reach the peak in 2040.
