The given line graph compares and contrasts the data on the changes in people at the age of 65 and over in three different countries (namely Japan, Sweden and the USA) from the year 1940 and give a prediction until 2040.
Overall, it can be clearly seen from the graph that the percentage of population aged 65 and over had an upward trend in the first 79 years and is estimated to increase in the next 19 years.
In the year 1940, the number of aged people in both two countries Sweden and the USA was more than that in Japan, at 7% and 9%, respectively, whereas Japan with 5%. During a century, the proportion of aged people in Sweden and the USA had a small fluctuation, but the trend was upward and more than the figure in Japan for the first nine decades.
The rate of Japan decreased slightly in the haft of the century to bottom at 3% from 1960 to 1986 but from 2030 to 2040, it is expected to rocket substantially and will overcome the USA and Sweden in the year of 2033. Because of having a big step in proportion, Japan will reach the highest point at the end of the graph, at 27%. On the other hand, the figures for Sweden and the USA will lower than 27% in 2040, at 25% and 23%, respectively.
