The given line graph demonstrates the proportion of smoking between male and female in Someland over the course of 40 years, starting from 1960.
Overall, it is clearly evident that the number of men who smoke had always exceeded its female counterpart. In addition, the rates of smoking men experienced a downward trajectory whereas this figure among females followed an opposite pattern.
In the beginning of the period, there were 600 in every 1000 men who smoke. This figure, then, decreased gradually and hovered around 400 in 1985, before dropping again in the mid 90s and remained at 250 in 2000.
In stark contrast, smoking was significantly less popular among females since only a mere 100 women in 1000 smoked in 1960. However, this number skyrocketed, hitting its highest point at over 300 in the year 1975 and levelled off. After five years onward, the heat of smoking among females slightly declined, resulting in only 200 women smoking in every 1000.
