The line graph below illustrates how the percentage of the unemployed people in the USA and Japan from March 1993 to March 1999.
Looking at the graph, the unemployment rate in the USA reduced while the contrast was true for Japan over the whole period surveyed.
In the first year surveyed, there was a contrast pattern in the figure of people being out of work both in the USA and Japan, with the former reaching a peak of 7.0 percent and the later hit the lowest point of 2.5 percent.
In the remaining years, the people who did not have work in the USA was seen an erratic drop by 2 percent in 1996 before going up and down around 5.0 percent till 1999. Meanwhile, the proportion in Japan, which rocketed by twofold of nearly 4.5 percent in 1996 compared to 1993, subsequently, the figure kept growing dramatically at 5.0 percent in the last year.
Summary, although the number of unemployed people in America was over 2.5 higher than Japan in 1993 but both countries changed markedly during 7 years period and got at 5.0 percent in 1999.
