The graph shows the availability of various sweeteners in the USA from 1966 to 2012.

The given line graph compares how much sweetener in pound is available in the United States between 1966 and 2012. Overall, it is conspicuous that the availability of sweeteners fluctuated throughout the whole time frame.
In detail, the trends of refined cane and beet sugars and corn sweeteners were diametrically opposed. The refine cane and beet sugars began at 100 pounds per person in 1966, which was approximately fivefold the amount of the rest of the three sweeteners. Since then, there had been a drop of 40 pounds in the amount of the refined cane and beet sugars before it leveled off at around 60 pounds from 1986 to 2012. It ended it period lower than where it began. In contrast to the downward trend of refined cane, the availability of corn sweeteners experienced a constant increase in the first two decades, with its figure rising from 20 pounds to 60 pounds per person. However, it exceeded the amount of refined cane in 1986, and then continued its growth before reaching its peak of about 80 pounds per person in 1998. Afterwards, a slight decline occurred in the availability of corn sweeteners between 1998 and 2012, with a marginal drop of about 20 pounds.
In comparison with sugars and corn sweeteners, the amount of honey and edible syrups remained unchanged within the timespan of the twenty years, starting at 15 pounds per person and ending with the same level where they began.
