The line graph illustrates the figure for weddings and the breakdown of marriage life in the UK over a period of 25 years
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the amount of divorces had slightly grown up all over the period. Nevertheless, the remaining features had the same trend, from the beginning it started to rise until it suddenly declined.
At the beginning, this number of divorces was just below 100.000 before rising to around 250.000 in 2000. Meanwhile, the figure for second weddings accounted for about 150.000 in 1975 and increased to a little more than 200.000 in 1985 before it broke the previous at around 250.000 in 2000.
In 1975, total marriages experienced the highest number of all four which was just below 500.000. This figure steadily surged to reach a peak of about 650.000 in 1985 and fell down to a little less than 600.000 in 2000. Furthermore, the figure for first marriages almost had the same trend with the total weddings which fluctuated between 300.000 to just over 400.000.
