The given line graphs illustrate information about the percentage of people who were unemployed in Japan and the US over a six year period from March 1993 to March 1999.
Overall, it can be seen that the US had much more unemployment rates than Japan for a considerable period, but in the end of the term, both nations reached the same proportion.
Looking at the details, as regards the US, the figure stood at 7%, the total being the peak level in March 1993. Despite being the highest rate, the percent dropped down steadily to just over 5% in the end of March 1995. For the remaining years, there was some fluctuations, finishing finally at 5%. With respect to Japan, the rate began at 2.5%, which was the by far the lowest total in March 1993. However, Japan experienced a gradual growth in the unemployment rate year on year. Unfortunately, the rate hit a peak at just over 5% in March 1998. Having reached a spike, there was then a steady drop in the amount to 5% in March 1999, which meant that the value was identical to that of the US.
