The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities over a ten year period.
The given line graphs provide a comparison of the registration of foreign and local students in Australian universities from 2001 to 2010 on the basis of total and commencing.
From overall perspective, it is conspicuous that the number international students was less than the national students at the beginning and increased dramatically after that. It can be stated that most of line graphs experienced a upward trend except for the commencing number of local students.
According to the data in commencing group, in 2001 the international and local students nearly have similar pattern, with the volume of students was more than 10000 people. However, in 2002, the commencing number in local students reached peak and accounted for 23000 students while the others was under 20000. The statistics in commencing number in international group saw a growth over the years shown and increase to 40000 students. Nevertheless, this number in local students witnessed the fluctuation, which had merely 20000 students at the and and was less than 2 times when compared with the others.
Turning to the total number of two types of students, both graphs shown an upward trend. It is obvious that the overseas students was occupied 20000 students in 2001 while the others was double. Over 10-year period, the total volume of foreign student made a fourfold jump and hosted the first rank at 80000 students. Finally, at the end of the period, there was an slight increase in volume of local students, which stood at 60000 students.
