IELTS 10 Test 1 Writing Task 1 - Academic

The two pie charts depict energy usage in an average Australian household and its impact on the greenhouse gas emissions in six different application categories. The most notable energy consumption is in the heating department. As for the contributor to the greenhouse gas emissions, water heating is the largest.

Second largest category in terms of energy usage is water heating in 30 percent, followed by other appliances category for half the amount of water heating. The other 13 percent composed of energy utilization in cooling, lighting, and refrigerating applications. The second biggest share of greenhouse gas emissions comes from other appliances category for 28 percent. Heating is the third largest for 15 percent and closely followed by refrigeration in 14 percent. The remaining 11 percent are due to emissions from the lighting and cooling category.

In conclusion, higher use of energy does not necessarily correlate to a higher greenhouse gas emissions. As it is shown that the highest type in energy usage is not the same as the one that emit the most greenhouse gas.
