Generally speaking, it can be clearly seen that the rate of smoking for men decreased while that of women fluctuated.
Looking in 1960, 600 men and 100 women used to smoke in Someland. In the 1970s, the rate of smoking for men declined steadily while that for women increased sharply. In 1970, men used to smoke thrice compared to women. In 1975, the rate dramatically rose for women at around 300 women smoking out of 1000. In the same year, the pace of smoking for men dropped by almost 10 percent. Till 1990, there was a reduction in the smoking rate. There were fewer than 400 males and 300 females smoking in the said period. The same trend of reduction was followed until 2000, where there is only a difference of 50 between the two genders.
