The bar chart compares the number of incidents and injuries by means of transportation containing bus commuter rail, heavy rail, light rail, bus, and demand response. The unit was measured per 100 million passenger miles traveled in 2002.
Overall, we can see that sudden occasions and damages occurred most frequently by demand transportation, the opposite was true for commuter rail.
According to the chart, while the number of incidents by demand response reached 225, the figure for commuter rail just stood at 20. Furthermore, there are 51 incidents by heavy rail, compared to 76 by light rail and by bus.
With regard to injuries, the figure for demand response was 173, more than twice as high as those by bus, which was 66. In addition, while heavy rail and light rail caused 35 and 39 respectively, only 17 injuries took place on commuter rail.
