The line chart illustrates the data of 18-25 year olds in universities in four different countries including: Singapore, Malaysia,Philippines,Thailand over a period of 50 years.
It is clear that there was an increase in the proportion of 18-25 year olds students in all four countries. Singapore had the highest percentage for most of the period
In 1961, Thailand had 25% of 18-25 year olds enrolled in university. It was followed by Singapore at 15% and the percentage of 18-25 year olds of Philippines and Malaysia under 10 percent. From 1971-1981, Malaysia and Philippines increased to 15% and Singapore increased too. It accounted for more than 35%. But Thailand just had a slight increase :from 20% to 21%.
In 1991-2011, the percent of Singapore went down to 34% in 2001. While Sìngapore decreased, Thailand and Philippines went up. The percentage of Thailand is more than 40% ( in 2011) and became the country with the highest percentage in that time. The Philippines decreased from 15% to 20% and Malaysia remained unchanged at 15% till the end.
