The line bar provides information on the quantity of oil produced and consumed by people in China during a 24-years period commencing from 1982 and ending in 2016.
Overall, it becomes evident by the graph that for the first half of the time period given, the Chinese manufactured significantly more barrels of oil per day than they used. However, around 1993 things shifted totally, as on the one hand oil production decreased significantly and on the other hand oil consumption started to rise rapidly.
Looking at the graph in more detail, during the first four years, the number of oil barrels created per day has grown by one million. From that point, the trend has remained plateaued at approximately three million barrels until the end of 2006.
With respect to oil consumption, the respective trajectory has followed an entirely different route. From 1982 to 1990 it remained at 2 million barrels used per day and following that, it started to increase dramatically, and in 2006 it has rocketed at around 6 million barrels per day.
