The line graph below shows the percentage of tourists to England who visited four different attractions in Brighton.
The chart compares the proportion of tourists to England who visited four different Brighton attractions including the art gallery, pavilion, pier and festival from 1980 to 2010. Overall, various trends of attractions in Brighton could be observed, including a growth of pavilion and pier, a decline of art gallery and festival over the period.
In 1980, the festival was the highest of the percentage of tourists, followed by the pavilion, art gallery and pier. From 1980 to 1985, the rate of tourists to the art gallery witnessed a significant rise from over 20% to over a third, considerably surpassing the pavilion's, pier's and festival's percentage of tourists in the same period. On the other hand, the proportion of tourists to the festival diminished slightly from 30% to under 30%, making this attraction fall behind the pavilion which experienced a steady increase from around 25% to nearly 30%. Similarly, the pier went up marginally from 10% to 15%.
From 1985 to 2010, the percentage of tourists to pavilion reached a peak of nearly a half in 1995, then fell substantially to around 30%. Surprisingly, the art gallery saw a remarkable reduction to under 10% in the rate of tourists, while the pier rose sharply to over 20%. Finally, the percentage of tourists to the festival decreased but after that increased to 18% in 2010.
