The given maps illustrate how Castellon, a city of Spain, has developed in recent years/ from 2000 to now.
Overall, the town has witnessed a significant urbanisation, notably with an increase in entertaining services and commercial facilities and the transformation of the transport network.
In detail, there is now a hall of residence to the left of the university which has remained its location in the northern part of the maps. The old market to the left of the city center has been demolished and replaced with a new shop. To the right of the heart of the town, a new shopping center and covered market have been built, as a result, the trees have been cut down to make way for them. It is noticeable that a new cinema and a range of bars and clubs have been constructed in the port area which is situated in the south of the map.
In addition, one of the striking changes in the transportation system of Castellon is an introduction of an airport which is under construction and the conversion of the old train station into a police station. At present, there is a brand new train station to the north of the city center, adjacent to a tramline connecting the university and the town center. Furthermore, the central area of Castellon is now utilized as a bike rental scheme, and the road along this area has been pedestrianized.
