The two maps are illustrating the development and transformation of the village of Stokeford throughout time, one map being the village in 1930 and the other representing the village 80 years later. Overall, it is explicit in the map that the number of houses increased dramatically in this period. Also, it is notable that this development came with a price: the old farmlands, shops and even the gardens were extinct in order to accomplish this massive housing.
The primary school, located to the east of the River Stoke was enlarged with two new buildings and to its north and in the place were once a farmland was located, there are eight new houses. Southbound, the large house that was formerly close to the now extinct gardens was enlarged and transformed into a retirement home.
Curiously, even with this great number of changes and transformations, the old post office remains the same, both in size and location.
