A glance at two figures provided illustrates a comparison of the mean household expenses among different categories in 1950 and 2010 in a country.

overall, it is evident that housing fee accounted for the majority of the expenditures in 1950, whereas food expense was the largest part for the figure in 2010.

With regard to 1950, housing was the major expense at that time, accounted for a staggering 72.1 percent. The second in terms of expenditures was food at 11.2 percent which was considerably lower than housing fee. followed by food, education expense was almost half of food, brought in 6.6 percent of overall expenditures. health care, transportation and other fees were relatively accounted for minority at 4.4, 3.3 and 2.2 percent respectively.

Compared with 1950, the figure in 2010 was more equally distributed. The percentage of food was 34 percent accounted for the largest part, followed by housing fee which was 22 percent at that moment. Third in terms of household expenditure was transportation at 19.2 percent. With around five percent less than transportation was health care. education and other costs were relatively small at 6.3 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.
