The pie charts below show the share of Oscar winners by film genre for 2003 and 2008

The pie chart presents the proportion of seven types of films won Oscar prize in two period years 2003 and 2008.
As it can be seen from the chart, the largest proportion of the Oscar winners by film genre was thriller. At the first period of time, the proportion of thriller was just under a half (45%) and it decreased to nearly a third in 2008. Despite the dropping in the proportion, thriller film was still the number one when it comes to the Oscar winning film genres in 2003 and 2008. The second largest proportion was action. In 2003, its proportion accounted for almost a quarter. After that in 2008, its proportion increased to just under a third. While the proportion of comedy ( the least proportion of film genre won the Oscar) remained the same; the proportion of either horror or science fiction rose by a half. The documentary and romance films saw the least change in the proportion ( just increased by 1% or 2%)
