The pie charts compare five types energetic material used in electricity production in Australia and in France in the year 1980 and 2000.

It is noticeable that the total amount of electrical production rose in both countries over the 20-year period, and more increase could be seen in France. Australian companies used coal as a major source in electricity production, and nuclear power took over coal becoming the most important source in France.

In 1980, the total amount of the electricity in both countries were 100 units in Australia and 90 units in France. By 2008, the equivalent figures had increased by 70 units for Australian and by 90 units for French. The usage of coal saw a great increase amount in Australia, by 80 units in 2000, while the data in France remained the same, merely 25 units. Nuclear power was the most important source in France, increasing from 15 units to 126 units.

Both countries experienced a huge trop in consuming natural gas, from 20 units to 0 in Australia and from 25 units to 2 units in France. By 2000, natural Gas still contributed nearly one quarter production in Australia, and coal and oil shared equally the percentage in France, both at 25 units.
