The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.
The plans illustrate how much Southwest Airport will change after reconstruction in a year. Overall, there will be a significant development in features of the new airport. Furthermore, the redeveloped airport will be more accessible and will have many more gates.
Regarding the access, the airport which at present has one gate for each departures and arrivals, will have two gates for each after the development. At the left side of the gate for departures, there will be a cafe which will be relocated from the north east of the departure room. Next to the cafe, there will be a new feature, bag drop, replacing check in point which is the moved to the opposite, where the cafe is located now.
The security, passport control, and customs locations for departures and arrivals will stay the same. After the security there will be shops along the way to the sky train, which will be available after development. People who are now using walkway, will be able to use sky train to reach the gates they are heading to. The number of the gates will be also added to over double, from just 8 in the current airport to 18 in the new one. The size of this area will be enlarged in Y-shape, to the north east and the north west.
Finally, in the arrival room will be another new cafe and ATM at the right side and next to it there will be an extension of the building for the last new facility, a car hire.
