The illustration gives information on the percentage of UK population who watched television and listened to radio during the day in October – December 1992. Overall, the pick of people entertained radio is in the morning around at half past eight while most of audience watched TV at the evening about at 8 p.m.
From the line graph we see that the number of radio listeners dramatically increased from 5% at 6 a.m. to 26%. After that this figure steadily fell and reached minimum levels at midnight. As for the statistics with TV spectators then amount of them was negligible in the morning. It slightly raised to nearly 50%, subsequently it significantly decreased until the end of the day. Most striking features of the diagram are that the line which represents TV audience overtook the line for radio listeners at 1 p.m. Also, the ratio of TV audience throughout the day to the UK population was considerably greater than the one with radio audience.
