In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough. What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message?
Whole world is now more oriented towards successful career and a well high profile lifestyle. Many parents dream that their offspring will achieve more success in life, even more amount than their achievements. In order to fulfil these dream parents advice their children to do hard work so they can achieve anything.
First of all, advantages of this advice given by parents are they form a dedication in their offspring's mind to have a meaningful lifestyle on their own. In many cultures children often became interested in what their parents are doing and how hard they work in order to live a wonderful life. Due to the struggles parents had to raise them seen by children and advices given by parents, children often do hard work to achieve theirs and their parents goals and also get success in life and make their parents proud. Many people have good knowledge and skills due to hard work they had done in school or college level suggested by their parents.
Second of all, there are some disadvantages also appeared by these advices. After listening to parents many children do hard work and get success in life, however some children has to face failure and disappointments in some level of their lives. These disappointments lead some children to depression stage. Some children feel that they had let down their parents, even though they worked hard. These all thoughts will affect children's mind and make them question their abilities and increase their self doubt.
In moral of this essay, parents should advice their offspring to do hard work, however not to force them or put pressure on them to be successful and achieve their goals.
