While some people think that accepting life's unfortunate circumstances, such as job dissatisfaction or lack of money is a good habit, others agree that striving to overcome these obstacles will improve the quality of their lives. I am of the opinion that making efforts to change these undesirable conditions will bring about success and a level of fulfilment.
On the one hand, it can be understood that some people would accept whatever challenges life throws at them because of fear of uncertainty, hence the perseverance. Recently, a report from the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria has shown that the rate of unemployment has increased drastically by 48% in 2015. Therefore people who are currently employed would want to hold on to their jobs irrespective of their level of satisfaction at the job or whether the remuneration is commensurate with their skill set. As a result of this type of outlook, they would rather stay on the jo and feel safe than taking a chance to seek improvement of their status.
On the other hand, I believe that you cannot keep doing things the same way and expect to see a change so, one has to keep searching for newer ways of doing things to achieve success. A typical example is the popular Nick Vujicic, who was born without limbs. Against all odds, he has become the best selling authour of many inspirational books and also a motivational speaker. Despite his physical disabilities, he empowers people worldwide by sharing his inspirational story of hope and triumph in the midst of adversity. Not only is he a successful man, but he is also a happy and fulfilled man. People like Nick chose not to accept their bad situation, rather they strive for a better life.
In conclusion, although acceptance of unfavourable situations can be beneficial to us in the short term, I believe that trying to overcome such unwanted conditions can lead to a successful and promising future on the long run.
