The table provides information about the total number of male and female workers and factories in England and Wales between 1851 and 1901
Overall, the number of male and female employees significantly decrease from 1852 to 1901, while the total factories were higher in the last 40 years compared to the first two decades.
The majority of employees for both gender came from 1851 at 287,100 for male and 190,000 for female. For male employees the figure decrease almost half of the population after a 10-year period. Similarly, female employees declined its number with a 60,000 difference. The period from 1851 to ,1861 had the lowest number of factories at 225 and 227, respectively. 10 years after, the number of employees significantly dropped, but this is the year that the factories boom at 622.
During 1881, male employees were only 76,132, a quarter difference from female employees at 50,000 and this year had the highest number of factories at 721. A decade after, both gender hit its lowest population at almost same level at 30,000, but the number of factories were higher than 50 years ago.
