The table illustrates the changes in average distances in miles covered by person per years in eight different transportation tools, and this survey was conducted in the UK between 1985 and 2000.

To begin with, the distance traveled by car had by far the most in all modes, increasing from 3199 miles to 4806 miles between 1985 and 2000. Other transportation tools saw a similar trend as the train. The former climbed from 450 to 585 miles, and the latter increased from 289 to 366 miles.

Turning to the figure for walking and bicycle. There was a small decline recorded by bicycle from 1985 to 2000 when the number slight dropped from 51 to 41 miles, and this mode became the least popular one. Walking saw a marginal decrease from 255 to 237 miles between 1985 and 2000. The most significant decline was depicted in the local bus, with the number reducing from 429 miles to 274 miles.

Overall, the car was the favorite mode in all types, followed by others. The distance traveled by most of the transportation tools saw a moderate increase, except for walking, bicycle, and local bus.
